After this week, which was really long and hard but also a very good trainings-week, I want to try something new, that will make me faster on flat runs and even in the mountains. The plan is to switch between a week like this, where I ran 160km with moderate elevation gain and therefore some intervals and fartleks to get more speed and much of kilometers and a week, where I ran as much uphill on trails as possible, followed by a week with regenerative and alternative training programs, such as slow runs, mountain bike and other stuff.
Today I did my longest run ever, but I think that won`t last long. The run was about 40km with the first part on flat roads and trails with a good friend and his trail-dog. After 22km I ran up to Mount Herkules, to see how I react after a hard week. 18km with about 800m of ascent on snowy and muddy trails and a short fartlek at the end. It shows me once again, that I am a long distance runner and love to go hard.
Lets see what the next week brings, when I want to climb as much as possible. Therefore I am looking forward to see new trails around Bad Hersfeld and at the weekend in my hometown in the Thuringian Forest.
